Our Farm

Foxfire is a phenomena where bioluminscent light glows faintly in the forest, but it’s almost forgotten in the modern world due to light pollution. Our symbol is the cross of two arrows, the Cherokee symbol for two tribes coming together — just like our families. We’ve learned a lot, made quite a few mistakes and are mostly just excited to let everyone come experience what we’ve built. Our own little foxes, Patterson, Rhea, Monroe & Jack explore and get excited each time we enter Foxfire Hollow and we can’t wait for your family to come join the fun!

Our Story

With busy lives in Nashville’s 12 South neighborhood and school and all the kids activities, our two families found ourselves spending a lot of time together. One night at a backyard dinner, the topic drifted to how we’d all in our own ways been dreaming of doing something new, something with our hands, and something we could build for the community.

So the idea for Foxfire Hollow was hatched in a springtime backyard by a pediatrician, early learning expert, mental health PA and an entertainment marketer.

Over the coming months, we acquired our beautiful farm just 30 minutes outside of town in the River Road section of Ashland City, we bought a tractor and began learning how to farm wildflowers.

We built nature trails, and a playground, and started to think it was time to share the magical space with other families. We found Ashland City to be welcoming and beautiful, with its countless bluffs over the Cumberland River just west of Nashville, and we wanted to be an active, fully engaged part of the community.

And though we spent our adult lives in offices and thought we’d have to learn everything from scratch, we did find all of us had unique skills that are perfect for our farm.

Jenny’s career in early childhood education, for example, was pretty handy as we designed all our play equipment and events to be developmentally appropriate. She’s also famous for her party planning. Chelsea is a resin artist who has been building fairy villages and creates magical worlds kids can’t wait to explore. Sean’s our lead farmer, curating the wildflowers we seed and harvest each year. And Brent is a lapidary artist and silversmith who loves to tinker with machines and tools.

We’re learning more skills every day, and we can’t wait to share our farm with everyone.
